51³Ô¹Ï¹Ù·½App Schools Celebrate First Week of Government-Funded Breakfast Club Pilot

1st May 2025

Six primary schools across 51³Ô¹Ï¹Ù·½App are proud to be among the 750 schools nationally selected to take part in the government’s new free breakfast club pilot. This exciting initiative aims to support families and help children start the day with a nutritious breakfast, ready to learn.

From the first day of the summer term, children in Reception to Year 6 at participating schools have been welcomed into a calm, friendly environment each morning, with free access to healthy breakfast options before the school day begins.

A Strong Start to the Day

Staff across our schools have already seen the positive impact the primary school breakfast pilot is having – with a calm start to the day  and a strong sense of community in the mornings.

At one school, a member of staff shared:
“You can feel the difference already – children are settled, they’re chatting with their friends, and they’re starting the day with full tummies and a smile, and ready to learn.â€

Proud to Be Part of the Pilot

We are incredibly grateful to have been given the opportunity to be part of this important national initiative. It’s a privilege to be trusted with piloting the government’s free school breakfast programme, and we are committed to delivering it with care and purpose.

Our schools involved in the pilot include:

  • Rivers Primary Academy

  • Greenways Primary Academy

  • Goldsmith Primary Academy

  • Manor Way Primary Academy

  • Milton Primary Academy

  • Tenterfields Primary Academy

Community Support and MP Visits

The week also included visits from local MPs who joined us to see the programme in action. At Milton Primary Academy, pupils had the chance to share their experiences of breakfast club with their MP and talk about how it’s already making a difference in their school day.

These visits helped shine a spotlight on the vital role schools play in supporting families, and we’re thankful to all who have shown their support during the first week of the rollout.

A Heartfelt Thank You

None of this would be possible without our dedicated staff teams across the WAT family. From setting up early each morning to creating a warm, welcoming environment for pupils, our teams have gone above and beyond to launch this initiative in such a positive way.

We’d also like to thank our families for embracing the pilot so enthusiastically – your support is invaluable.

Looking Ahead

As we move into the coming weeks, we’re excited to build on this strong start and continue making breakfast a positive, healthy, and consistent part of every school day for our children.

At 51³Ô¹Ï¹Ù·½App, we believe in unlocking academic and personal potential and we know that a good start to the day is a powerful first step.
